The Rockies Hidden Paradise Lake O’Hara! ロッキー山脈の隠れた楽園レイク・オハラ！

Hello this Yamnuska guide Chris! We had a wonderful day in one of the most special places in the Canadian Rockies. To protect the fragile alpine ecosystem at Lake O’Hara there is a limited number of people that can visit each day, we enjoyed beautiful lakes and mountains, glaciers, wildflowers, birds, and wildlife. The peace and quiet of few other visitors and the craftsman that started building trails here over 70 years ago give us a sense of peace and calm.

After a one hour drive west of Canmore, Alberta we passed through Banff National Park and into Yoho National Park in British Columbia to the Lake O’Hara Parking lot. From here we used our special bus tickets to ride 11 km up a road to access the lake.

アルバータ州キャンモアから西に車で1時間後、バンフ国立公園を通過し、ブリティッシュコロンビア州のヨーホー国立公園に入り、レイクオハラの駐車場まで。 ここから特別なバスチケットを使用して、湖にアクセスするために道路を11kmを走ります。

Our guest today were the Wada family, Chie and Kyle are living in Calgary AB, Chie’s parents Yukio and Akemi are visiting from Osaka. Myself I enjoyed the challenge of explaining things in both English and Japanese!

今日のゲストは和田さんご一家で、知永さんとカイルはカルガリー在住で、知永さんの両親が大阪から遊びに来ています。 私自身、英語と日本語の両方で物事を説明するというとても貴重な体験ができました。

Our plan for the day was to follow around the main Lake of Lake O’Hara with easy walking and then get a work out by hiking up to Opabin Prospect which is a high lookout finished off with exploring the meadows around the Elizabeth Parker Alpine Club hut.

その日の私たちの行先は、オハラ湖の湖畔を歩き、その後、高台の展望台であるオパビンプロスペクトまで。最後にエリザベスパーカー小屋の周辺までを探索することでした。

　

　

We took a side trip to the Seven Vail Falls viewpoint and Kyle shared some delicious Canadain treats! Smoked Maple Glazed Salmon, Yum!!

Always a special day when you can see a Bald Eagle.

Still snow on a 30 degree day??? Yes even in July, it is melting quickly now but we had a lot of snow this spring and until recently cooler temperatures have made it last longer than usual. Opabin Prospect is at an elevation of 2,222m.

30度の日でもまだ雪が降りますか？ はい、7月でも降雪はあります。すぐに溶けてしまいますが、この春は雪がたくさん降り、最近まで気温が低かったため、雪が例年よりも多く残っていました。オパビンプロスペクトは標高2,222mにあります。

After a good workout we made to the high viewpoint of Opabin Prospect, from here we had amazing views in all directions. We went up one valley and came down another after enjoying some time above this high cliff. To finish the day we relaxed at the tea house and explored the alpine meadows around the one hundred year old Elizabeth Parker Hut.

最後にオパビン プロスペクトの高い展望台に行き、ここからはあらゆる方向の素晴らしい景色を眺めることができました。 私たちはこの高い崖の上でしばらく楽しんだ後、一つの谷を登り、また別の谷を下りてきました。 下山後はティーハウスでリラックスし、築百年のエリザベス・パーカー・ハットの周りの高山植物を探索しました。
