Larch Valley (07/21)

Today started out as a bit of cloudy and rainy morning at Moraine Lake with my clients the Shibayama family. We first took in the nice views of the lake and enjoyed the great turquoise colour then headed up into the forest up the many (10 actually! we counted) switch-backs up to Larch Valley. It was not busy at all today, so we had the trail mostly to ourselves. It was cloudy until we got up the higher elevations then it really got nice by about 2:00PM and the sun came out. We were able to see many nice flowers, and even got really close to a friendly little marmot who was feasting on grass and left over pistachio shells. We was very cute and not afraid at all.
After a quick lunch under my tarp (as it was cold and windy) we walked up to Minnestimma Lake, skipped some stones and watched the picas and marmots run around. The mountains finally revealed themselves and we were able to almost see all of the 10 peaks! It was a fun day for me and the family too. Hope we can see you again at Yamnuska!
